Comments: I thought I would update my e-mail address, and information, so for
the last four years I have been doing the morning radio show for a Parkersburg
radio group where I worked 30 years ago as the morning show talent. I also still
own and am the major talent for my own company, Ralph Allen Media,
www.ralphallen.net.
The Beckley, Oak Hill area will always be special to me. My grandfather and my
father were both superintendents with New River Coal and they gave me a
wonderful view on life. Do the right thing because it's right.
I love all you wonderful people that I went to school with. We shaped each other
in ways that all of us acknowledge. From the coal fields to some of
America's great radio stations, my life has been so blessed. I owe so much
to Jack Bailey, one of us, and the NR Good guys who gave me the gift of their
time and effort...to mold my limited talent...into a lifelong skill that changed
everything, made college possible...and so much more. Rod, O'Dell, Tom
Martin, Tom Hicks, Bob Miller, Bob Horton, Phil Vogel...all friends that own my
very heart...David Goode...my childhood friend that is so treasured in my
memories.
Looking back is such fun...I owe so much to so many that cared about me. And
Tony Gonzales, Nick Rahall, and the mighty WWNR...thank you for my start...in
radio.

Comments: Hello guys and gals, I miss the 60's and all of your smiling faces. I
live with my wife Linn and the dogs and cats and my Amazon bird, Eli, who speaks
better than most people and seems to make more sense than the government
officials these days. We have a round house in a pine forrest at Cool Ridge, Wv.
Some one asked why I built a round house, my answer is I do not live in a square
world, so why live in a square house? To bring you up to date on my life, I went
to Mountain State University at age 39, then did my masters at Marshall in
Correctional Counseling. I worked as a therapist at the max security prison at
Mt. Olive. Worked with the most dangerous men in the state. I have owned my own
Insurance agency for 30 plus years , run for State Senate, been a private
Investigator, and am author of three books. The title of my latest book is
Mountain Mysteries and Ancient History, vol 1 and 2. They can be ordered from
Target.com, Amazon.com. or from me at www.trafford.com. I have three children, Stephanie, Richard and Brian. I have six
grandchildren. You know now 9-11-01 changed our world. I miss the days when you
could leave the kids outside without fear or worry. The day you left the key in
your car and everyone in Beckley knew everyone else. Anyway, I want to share one
writing from my first book Words of Wisdom.
Time keeps marching on. Yesterday flew by on wings so fast, its gone forever,
each moment is past. as time keeps marching on. We live our lives through
memories, fast creeping into eternity, as time keeps marching on. The storms of
life bring rain showers, while the rays of the sun brings fresh new flowers, as
time keeps marching on. Through the midst of the dark clouds, I can hardly see,
and through the years, I have shed many tears, and reaped my destiny, as time
keeps marching on. Now as I reach age 60, gone are my memories of glory, that
captured my eyes, filled me with pride, as time keeps marching on. Yes, tears
flood my eyes as I realize that time keeps marching on. Once my ears could hear
the buzzing sound of a bee, but now I cannot hear, nor can I see, as time keeps
marching on. The melodies that once brought ease are now only fond memories, as
time keeps marching on. One day midst the agony and gloom, my spirit will be
released, and shall enter a new dimension, or another world or room, as time keeps marching on. So soon I shall bid this
world farewell, as this inner spirit leaves this mortal shell, as time keeps
marching on. May the great spirit bless each of you as you travel on this
eternal journey, as time keeps marching on. I remain your classmate through this

the one in our class that made everyone smile and laugh. His good nature and

Comments: Hello, just wanted to get in touch with everyone still living, the old
timers. I have spent most of my life in Beckley. I have owned Snuffer Insurance
for 30 years and served time at the State maxium security, not as an inmate, but a
therapist. I guess I was a little slow getting to college, I started at night
school at age 40, and got masters in correctional counseling in 1994. I have three
children, 6 grand. I still have the need for speed riding cycles at speeds of up
to 158 in the dip at cherry creek, and in my BMW at 145mph, but no wrecks thus
far. I have authored 3 books, Mountain Mysteries and Ancient History. West Virginia
University purchased several copies for their Library and The Dept of Education
and The Governor have my books as well as Beckley, Shady, Princeton Libraries. If
you have time take a look, they are on Amazon.com and Target.com and the
publisher-trafford.com.I miss you guys and gals. Time flys by and all we can
carry to the grave and through eternity is our thoughts of others.

Comments: Yesterday 6/20/08 I was flipping channels and found this show called “Dinners, Drive-Ins and Dives” on the Food Network. One of the places they visited was Hill Billy Hot Dogs. It is located Lesage WV. Lesage is located north of Huntington on RT 2. They have a lovely view of the rail road tracks and the Ohio river . As the Food Network was visiting the location guess who was sitting at one of the booths. None other than fellow classmate and illustrious Congressman Nick Rahall. You have to go to the web site and look at all of the pictures. www.hillbillyhotdogs.com The setting for the restaurant is in the school bus. On the menu we have a hot dog named after Nick. The “Rahall’s Red Hot Winnie.”

Comments: My husband and I finally returned to land and sold the boat. We really enjoyed our years sailing. One too many hurricanes so we decided to buy a cabin in the mountains and stay high and dry to rest up for the next adventure. I was amazed to see so many of you as we traveled. M favorite was running in Michael Snyder singing (under an assumed name) in a bar in Key West. I walked up to him and said you must either be Daniel or Michael and if you are I will buy 3 of your CD's, he laughed and confessed that he was Michael. Would you believe Mike Griffith retired within 20 minutes of where I live? We get together often for dinner. Miss you all....Paula Arnold where are you?

Comments: After talking to Pete Torrico this spring, I hoped to make it to the reunion but, we are waiting on the birth of our 4th grandchild.
Nick and I have lived 24 of our 33 married years in Marietta, GA. We had 2 children who are married and live in Woodstock and Lawrenceville, GA.
I'm still working - at SunTrust Bank in downtown Atlanta as an Operations Manager supporting Corporate and Investment Banking. My husband is retired and spends his time at Lake Lanier or babysitting the grandkids. I saw Nick Rahall on tv after the mine disaster. Haven't been back to WVA for years but I keep up with WVU - especially when they play UGA in sports (as that is where our kids went to school).

Comments: My family moved to Beckley at the beginning of my Junior Year in High School. They moved to Charleston during the end of our senior year. I went to WVU and met my husband Mike in the fall of 1967. Anyway, to make a long story short, he retired from the Army, and now we live in Parkersburg. We have an 18 year old son, who will be a senior at PHS this fall.
David Dunbar was located in Pensacola about 4-5 years ago.
I hope we will be able to attend the reunion - I have tried for years, but were either too far or could not make any contact. It has been very interesting to read the notes from my former classmates.

Comments: Upon receiving my notice for the 40th reunion I happened to spot the website for the WWHS Alumni Connection. What a great site!!!
Although I've attended all of our reunions it was so nice to catch up on many of you that we haven't seen since "67."
After graduating from WV Tech I taught band and choir "one" year at Beckley Jr. What a year. I would go home and watch TV for two hours before ever
turning the set on!
After that I was a lie detection examiner, personnel consultant and then spent 20 years as a commercial pilot. When I noticed my "rabbits foor" was
losing it's hair (crashed twice the last year)decided that we would start our own construction company, which my son now runs. If I told you guys about
our successes I'd then be obligated to divulge our many failures, so we won't go there. I presently own an international online dating company......now
that's a real "hoot."
My family consists of my wife Brenda and our five grown children whose families live within walking distance. I love that because most of the
grandchildren get off the bus in the evenings and we care for them until their parents get home.
Like life, this web site has been very pleasurable (reading about old friends) and disturbing at the same time(learning of great friends
who are no longer with us: Kenny-Tom-Peggy).

I am presently back on the air at WATH in Athens, Ohio...just down the street from Ohio University...rockin' little town...My radio show is aired afternoons 2 to 6 at both WATH and WXTQ-FM.

children - Michael and Rebecca.
Mike works with computers for IBM in Boulder Colorado. He is married and has 2 beautiful little boys. Rebecca
is a medical student in South Carolina and will graduate in May. I have taught school for 28 years, the past
18 in South Carolina. I plan to retire within the next 5 years, but I have no idea at this point what I will do at
that time. My husband, Ed, retired in April from the Department of Corrections. I would love to hear from my classmates. Take Care!

On March 5th I went to a meeting with my husband in Washington DC and while we were there we
had a mini reunion. We had a wonderful dinner at Bernie Davidson's home with Madeline Stover and Paula Perdue.
(We are all still married just didn't bother with the last names). We called Nick Jo to join us and we got him
on his cell and he was in Beckley with Bruce Vest and Cliff Fisher having a beer. It was a great weekend of talking
and laughing!! It made us miss you
everyone! We all can't wait till the next reunion.
Some sad news: My brother, Henry was diagnosed with stomach cancer on March 10th. Please keep him in your prayers.

Although I only spent my Junior and Senior years at WWHS, I do have many fond memories. To refresh your memory
about me, I was born in Cuba, and my dad was a physician at the local VA Hospital.
I got married in Beckley. I graduated from Beckley College and got my BS in Management and Marketing
from what is now University of Charleston. Then I got divorced.
After my divorce, I moved to Miami. Here I lived with my parents (he was hired by Jackson Hospital and then
by the local VA Hospital). I remarried in Miami and after 21 years I got divorced again.
I have been Computer Systems Analyst/Engineer for banks.
I have also taught ESL (English as a Second Language) at Miami-Dade College.
Currently I am the Administrator at an Outpatient (Physical Therapy) Rehabilitation Center.
Summarizing almost 4 decades in a small paragraph is not easy. I hope to hear from many of my former classmates.

Comments: My husband, Bob and I loved the reunion and are so glad that we were able to attend, even
though Bob was in a wheelchair! Jimelle, thanks for dancing with the handicapped! A very BIG belated
thanks to the committee of folks who worked so hard to organize the reunion. Bruce, I do so hope you will
head up another committee in 5 years!
Bob is doing a year's sabbatical in Zurich, Switzerland, so we are enjoying the opportunity to travel and explore
Europe. I am not sure how I will adjust to life without planning trips every couple of weeks! We have especially enjoyed
visits from friends. Paula (Perdue) Poe and Jimelle (Walker) Bowen visited in April and we had a WONDERFUL time touring
the Italian and French Riviera, Provence, Germany and Switzerland. It still seems too good to be real life. It must have
been a dream! But we have pictures and we will share them at the next reunion!

Comments: Wow. This is pretty weird. I'm doing some web research to finalize my Aunt Nancy's
estate (passed several years ago, for those of you who knew her) and I find this page. A tribute
to the value of semi-random behavior.
I've been around the world a good bit since Beckley and Marshall, had a bunch of great jobs, and I now run my
own consulting business. I got married (2nd) 13 years ago to a fantastic woman (a blonde lawyer, so that makes
for some great joke material). No kids, three hunting dogs, semi-retired (i.e., lazy), and, amazingly (considering

Comments: I have been out of Beckley since drafted in the Army in 1969 so most of you
may not remember me. I retired as a Command Sergeant Major in 1995 and have continued to support
our service members as a Legislative Representative in Congress and now the Vice President of the

Comments: I married my high school sweetheart, Debbi Honaker '68, and we have lived in Orlando
since 1979. We have a son, Jason-30, and a daughter Erin-25. Jason has 2 daughters and they are the light
of our lives. They all live within 10 minutes of us and we see them all the time. I manage a trucking company
and Debbi works for the gas utilities company. For old times sake we have a '67 Mustang coupe. It is show
condition but we use it for an every day driver.
We've come in for most of the reunions but missed last year. I hated that because we always
have a blast seeing everyone.
I love playing golf and would love to spend time in Beckley with old friends and some clubs!

Comments: Hello class of 67, Just by pure luck I found this web sight. I think it is great. I have
lost track of about everyone from our class. I moved to Lake Milton,
Ohio July of 1967. I started working for General Motors Car Assembly Plant in Aug. of 67. I got called to
service in 1968 and spent my time in Viet Nam like so many of you likely did. I got married in 1971 to A
beautiful girl Debbie, that just happened to live next door to me at Lake Milton. We have two children, three
grandchildren and one more on the way. We now live in Newton Falls which is only a few miles from Lake Milton. Newton
Falls is in Northeast Ohio between Akron and Youngstown. I retired from GM July of 2002 and love it.
I had a great summer fishing, and having a good time on the lake with my boat and wonderful family. If anyone

Comments: I have lived in the sunny South now for 23 years but I still miss the mountains, especially
in the autumn with all the glorious colors. I even miss the snow at Christmas time. However, Pensacola has

courses. I spent 22 years in the Navy. It was Naval Flight Training that first led me to Pensacola and it was

Comments: I've always loved my classmates. I think of them often and wonder where we all moved and how
we have changed. In 1968 I moved to N. Benton, Ohio and worked for the
United Telephone Co of Ohio as dispatcher. In 1975 I married Art Lora,
who is a Diesel Mechanic for Ohio Machinery (CAT). We have two grown
children, Connie is 24 and an Editor for Barbour Publishing and Nathan
is in his last year at Youngstown State University for Mechanical
Engineering Technology and will be 21 in July 2002. We have truly been
blessed. In 1992 I started working for the Salem Public Library, and
ten years later I'm still there. Enjoying every moment. I visit Beckley
sometimes since I still have family there. It is always a beautiful place to return to.

Comments: Hello everyone. Thirty-five years ago we were sitting in class at Woodrow
Wilson High School, counting down to graduation. Time moved so slow back then. Now 3-1/2 decades
have passed and we're wondering where the time went.
I attended Beckley College for two years. In 1969 I started working at the VA Hospital as a secretary.
I actually started working as a volunteer at the Beckley VAMC in my senior year at Woodrow. Through the
years I advanced and have worked as the Director, Voluntary Service for the past twelve years. I truly
enjoy my job because I work primarily with people who want to be there.
My husband, Sam Shrewsbury (WWHS 1966) and I, celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in November
2001. We are the parents of one son, David (WWHS 1997).
That's 35 years reduced to three paragraphs.

Comments: Thank you so much for the oppurtunity to establish contact. After WVU
went into the Army and spent 20 great, exciting years in the Infantry
with some of America's most dedicated men. Of course, have had the
oppurtunity to live in lot's of fun places. In 1982 I married a great
lady, Cindy and we have lived here in NW Montana for 9 years. Montana
is one of those few places that is as lovely as southern WV. Have been
in recent contact with two old buddies; Jerry Underwood and Jay Dixon.
Have never been back to Beckley for past reunions, but would certainly
like to in the future. Everyday is fun with sports galore; working
as a Hospice volunteer (Cindy is the local program director); managing
a guest house; and taking care of Scottish Terriers. My best to all. A
special thanks to John Wooton, a fine friends for all these years, for
telling me about this 'web idea'!

Comments: It was so wonderful finding this web site. I am not a graduate of
WWHS but attended there in 1967. I was born and raised in Beckley till I left in 1968
and then drafted into the Army in 1969 where I made a career until my retirement in October
1995 as a Command Sergeant Major. The years have been good to me. I Married a wonderul lady
(Sue) 30 years ago, 2 sons, 1 daughter and 5 loving grandchildren. I never seem to find the time
to visit West Virginia but my mind wonders back home daily of all the friends I left years ago
and the beautiful mountains of our state. If anyone remembers me please send me an e-mail. I'd love

Comments: After graduation I entered the USAF, was stationed at Travis AFB CA. Married
Garrett Conaway and upon discharge moved to Albuquerque NM. Divorced
and remarried Dave Anderson. Since leaving Beckley I have lived in TX,CA,NM,OK,KS,WV,TN,and TX for the final time.
I divorced and remarried John Long. We live in TX, a small town about 49 miles northwest of Ft Worth and have a small ranch. I worked for Bureau
of Land Mgmt, Dept of Interior and Dept of Agriculture, Food Safety Inspection Service,
among other jobs. I read electric meters for the rural electric coop for 11 years in addition to
working for the post office and being postmaster. In 1986 got a job with the US Postal Service and a year ago retired
from the Postal Service, the last 10 years as Postmaster at Slidell TX. Couldn't stand retirement so I went to work
at Wackenhut Correctional Corporation, a private prison. I have 4 children, all of whom
are grown and gone from home, and 7 grandchildren. One daughter and her husband (Connie and Paul) are US Navy and after having
been stationed in Hawaii for 6 years were sent to Italy. John and I have had the opportunity to go to Hawaii
twice visiting. Connie was born in Beckley at Raleigh General Hospital while her Dad, Garrett,
was stationed in Korea and I came home for the duration. They have 2 boys. Dale, my son, works for the Union Pacific
Railroad and has one daughter he is raising. Julie, lives in Missouri, manages an apartment complex, has 3 children and Jolene,
the youngest, teaches special education, a child with down syndrome, she has one son. I would love to hear from classmates.

and loved catching up on everyone. I have been married to Sam for 32 years
and we spent 24 of them in the United States Air Force. We are blessed with three sons
- Jim, Mike and John. Jim, a former Raleigh Co Deputy Sheriff is in the US Army stationed
at Ft. Hood, TX. He is married and has three wonderful "adopted" children. Mike is a PE
teacher in Salinas, CA and John is a junior at Glenville State College majoring in Criminal
Justice. I work at the WV Division of Culture and History as an accounting tech and Sam works
in the Public Information section. We both love working the events--Vandalia, Doo Wop and

Comments: I actually do not have a graduating class, I was
accepted early into University of Charleston from the 11th grade, so
I lost contact with so many of you wonderful people. My life has been
a real rocket ride, since having a part-time job at WWNR in 1966.
That job got me one at WCAW and WVAF-FM (V-100) in Charleston, West
Virginia and I had a great career as a jockey in Columbus,
Pittsburgh, and some other markets finishing my career after 33 years
at the Blitz hard core rock and roll in Columbus. I have truly lived
my dreams and have been so wonderfully blessed. What a rocket ride!
I am now practicing as a school psychologist at Logan-Hocking Schools
in Logan, Ohio and having an absolute blast! The most fun of my life!
I recently made contact with Supreme Court Justice Fred Lewis and
thanked him for the inspiration that he and so many of you were to
me. (of course he didn't remember me because I was a sophomore geek
when we knew each other hahahah) *I was NOT "fox" in high school as
many of you know. I think we've been able to change some of that
since I became a semi-adult. One very sad day I wish to share with
you, I was on the air at WIBZ-FM in Parkersburg reading the news when
the story passed my fingertips that Jimmy "Beaver" Ford had passed
away. I was so choked up I couldn't finish...it was years ago, but
the day still is with me. Jimmy Ford was one of those bigger than
life people that I admired so much, we all did. Nightly, I prayed
for those West Pointers like Jimmy and Pete "Tiger" Lilly and all of
our class that made such great contributions to our freedoms. I've
lost track of Pete lilly, and I hope that he is well. What a truly
great place, Woodrow Wilson High School was in the mid 1960's. You
all are wonderful people. Such treasure you are! Some of my friends,
have passed on, but this family of people has an eternal significance
and I am very proud to have been with you for some time along this
path and know that I cherish each and every one of you always. I am
so thankful for your contributions to my life, and I wish each of you
well. If I behave, perhaps you might let me attend your next reunion,
even though I am not really a graduate. Think about it, ok?

Comments: Thanks for a wonderful idea to keep in touch with
friends. I have lived in Jacksonville for 11 years with my beautiful
wife, Brenda. Our baby, Donna, has just entered her sophmore year at
Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. Since high school, I
have earned my doctorate degree in theology and picking up an
additional master's in Christian counselling. Having retired from
the military, I enjoy the senior pastor position at the North
Jacksonville Church of the Nazarene. I would appreciate responds
from friends and those who just think you may know me. I was brought

Comments: With my family moving to Big Stone Gap, VA in 1969,
I have lost touch with anyone from my graduating class. After
graduating from WVU in 71, I made my home in the Atlanta area and
have been married to Nick Gantt for just shy of 27 years and have a
son who is married and a daughter at University of Georgia. I am a
Corporate Banking Assistant Team Leader with Suntrust Bank in the
Structured Finance Department. It would be great to see what
everyone has been doing since leaving WWHS!

Comments: This is really fun. Thank you for the opportunity
to find some old friends. Okay, I know you are out there so let me
hear from you. Tom and I are doing great. Just married off two
daughters in two years and we are FREE again to do what ever we want.
I know there are plenty of you out there that feel the same way. We
loved them and taught them what we could and sent them on their way.
